What is a facade plan?
The scale representation of an existing or designed construction in formats agreed by all parties involved and that respect the standards of the legislation in force is done in specific plans, differentiated according to the purpose for which they are drawn up.
The facade plans represent the surface of a target as seen from the outside of the building, and one is made for each component side. The main facade is the one that illustrates the access to the building and the others are called secondary and are identified in relation to the position in cardinal points with respect to the North indicated on the plan.
The facade plans contain relevant information at the level of execution details, specific elevations, materials used, carpentry patterns and decorations down to the smallest detail.
Their preparation is necessary for the documentation related to obtaining various construction permits and they are part of the mandatory set required for their transposition on the ground.
Classic design methods
Construction design is still done today by various methods, and although technology has advanced as in most technical fields, the classic methods have not completely disappeared.
Hand sketches are less common and presentations directly on paper with the help of the tablet retain their place, especially for small-sized works.
Classic measurement methods are used to identify dimensions on the ground and help to translate them into the plan with very good precision when we are talking about small buildings, whose elements do not involve a lot of detail.
Modern measurement methods
When the measured objective is one that requires detailed measurements that cannot be achieved by classical methods, modern measurement techniques are used that are gaining ground due to high precision, speed in transposing elements in 2D/3D format and fast delivery of final plans .
One of these modern measurement methods is 3D laser scanning and the advantages of its use place it at the top of the existing options. The easy translation of the measurements carried out in digital format and the high precision of the scanned details offer advantages regarding the time allocated to the design and favor the access to the existing information of all parties involved: beneficiary, designer and builder.
Building Information Modeling (BIM) enables the digital design, modeling, optimization and simulation of buildings from the design phase, tracking throughout execution and during operation using a single 3D model. Digital access for all participants increases the security of the design process and reduces the incidence of errors throughout the life of the building.
