Case study – Rehabilitation of The Balkan Inn.

Rehabilitation of the Balkan Inn, Constanța

PROJECT

Specialized studies illustrate in detail the various ways in which 3D modeling can be used for the rehabilitation of a damaged building and beyond, 3D modeling becoming an important tool for architects and construction engineers who need to assess the state of degradation of a building and plan the necessary repairs, without affecting the authenticity of the building.

SOLUTION

3D modeling is commonly used in rehabilitation. By creating a 3D model of the building, users can easily understand the damage and the ideal way to restore it with minimal costs and reduced interventions.

3D scanning is a process of creating a digital projection of a building by digitally transposing  in a BIM format.

RESULTS

One of the advantages of 3D scanning would be that it is a very accurate way of capturing detailed images of objects and can also be used to create digital models for analyzed objects.

This can be useful for museums, historic buildings and various organisations who want to preserve historical objects in good condition, making it easier for future generations to access them.

Scanning the exterior of a building with specialized equipment creates a point cloud that can be used to identify and measure the degradations in the structure of the building. This information is then used to create a plan to repair the structure.

The 3D model can also be used to create a virtual tour of a building. This allows visitors to explore the interior of the structure from any angle.

WHY CHOOSE EUROSURVEY?

Eurosurvey provides integrated services covering the area of survey engineering, 3D laser scanning, 3D modelling, 2D sections and plans, representation for surfaces of any type, digital terrain model-DTM, Mesh

For the rehabilitation of the Balkan Inn, a team of 5 specialists in 3D laser scanning and point cloud processing was mobilised, the measured elements were then translated into 2D drawings and 3D model generated to facilitate the correct diagnosis for the analysed objective.

A total area of 9532 sqm was measured, the deliverables obtained consisted in three floor plans, eight facades, eight cross sections, a cover plan, a roof plan and a 3D Revit model.

The speed of the process of measuring and transposing the scanned elements into a 3D model reduced the overall time taken to rehabilitate the Balkan Inn, which we attribute to the balanced combination of specialised equipment and an experienced team.

We are at your disposal to detail the technical aspects involved in the rehabilitation process of the Balkan Inn and we invite you to follow us with confidence on the associated social media pages.
